Arrest made in Sexual Interference and Child Pornography Investigation

File: 22-3508

The Saint John Police have arrested a 46-year-old man for sexual interference and child pornography offences.

It is alleged that:

On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at approximately 1:51 a.m., the Saint John Police responded to a complaint that, what was believed to be, child pornography was discovered on a cell phone belonging to a 46-year-old man.

It was further reported and believed that the children depicted in the digital media on the cell phone were known to the offender.

The Saint John Police Family Protection Unit, with the assistance of members of the Patrol Services Division along with members of the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed a search warrant at the man’s residence where a number of electronic devices were seized in connection with the on-going investigation.

The accused was released from custody on an undertaking to return to court on December 15, 2022, along with conditions including, but not limited to “not be in or near any places where children under the age of 16 years are likely to congregate”.
