Arrest made in traffic stop - Firearms and ammunition seized

On Friday, April 22, 2022, at approximately 2:43 p.m., members of the Saint John Police and Kennebecasis Regional Police Force Integrated Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of Patrol Services, arrested a 32-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man for weapons related offenses.

It is reported that:

On April 22, 2022, at approximately 2:43 p.m., as a result of an investigation, police stopped a vehicle in the area of Red Head Road and arrested two occupants.

As a result of a search of the vehicle, police seized a loaded .22 calibre handgun, a .22 calibre rifle, and ammunition.

Both accused have been arrested for unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, and possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition.

The 35-year-old man has also been arrested for possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a substance believed to be cocaine, and probation violation.

Both accused were held in custody scheduled to appear before provincial court on April 23, 2022.
