Arrests in Undercover Drug Operation Operation Sandstorm

In keeping with our vision for a safe, secure, healthy community, the Saint John Police have arrested ten people resulting in over thirty drug related criminal charges in an on-going undercover drug operation.

The Saint John Police and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force Integrated Street Crime Unit have been leading this four-month undercover drug operation targeting street level drug traffickers in the greater Saint John region. During Operation Sandstorm, undercover officers have purchased and seized cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal meth, and fentanyl.

Beginning Wednesday, August 10, 2022, members of the Integrated Street Crime Unit, Major Crime Unit, Community Engagement Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, Canine Unit and Patrol Services began arresting various suspects identified during Operation Sandstorm.

Since January 2022, the Saint John Police have responded to over 100 overdose related calls for service. The spread of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids have had devastating effects across much of North America. Operation Sandstorm aims to deter drug trafficking and reduce the availability of illicit drugs therefore enhancing the quality of life in the greater Saint John area.
