Curbside garbage collection in preparation for Hurricane Lee

The City is experiencing significant delays in garbage collection due to the strike activities of CUPE Local 486 inside workforce. In preparation for the arrival of Hurricane Lee this weekend, the City is asking residents to relocate their garbage temporarily.

Residents with garbage that needs to be picked up are asked to leave it curbside until 6:00 p.m. this evening. If your garbage has not been collected by that time, we ask that you take it back inside until Sunday night to avoid garbage being blown around during this weekend’s storm.

Garbage should be placed back at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on Monday, September 18 and crews will continue with collection.

A reminder that the City is prioritizing the collection of household garbage at this time. Collection of household recycled materials and compost will be suspended until further notice.
