Escapee Arrested

On Tuesday, October 19th, 2021, the Saint John Police Force arrested 46-year-old inmate Terrance Smith.

It was reported that:

On Thursday, October 14th, 2021, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Smith had escaped from the Saint John Regional Correctional Facility.

Members of the Saint John Police Force Major Crime Unit and the integrated Street Crime Unit including, a member from the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, were tasked to locate and arrest Smith.

On Tuesday, October 19th, 2021, police observed Smith operating a stolen vehicle on Rothesay Avenue in Saint John.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., once safely outside the vehicle, Smith was arrested at a gas station in East Saint John.

He was arrested for escaping lawful custody, possession of stolen property and theft related offences.

A 31-year-old female passenger was also arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to attend court and possession of stolen property.

Both accused were held in custody and are expected to appear in court.
