Heavy rainfall - Traffic advisories, road closures and other important information

Road update:
Motorists are advised to drive with caution and care this morning, observe signage and barricades, and avoid flooded areas. Driving through flooded areas can cause serious damage to vehicles and neighbouring homes where the water flows.

Impacted roads will open once the water levels recede.

Sections of Rothesay Avenue are reduced to one lane.

Rothesay Avenue at Retail Drive is closed.

Rothesay Avenue at the train bridge is closed, approaching from both directions (highway and Rothesay Avenue).

Ashburn Road at Rothesay Road is closed to Drury Cove.

McAllister Drive from Majors Brook to Golden Grove is reduced to one lane in both directions.

McAllister Drive at Golden Grove is closed.

Glen Falls is impacted on the following streets:

  • Simpson

  • Princess

  • Todd

  • Holland

  • Walter

  • Broadway

  • Glen

  • Brown

  • MacKay

  • Belgian

  • Rayland

  • Ashton

  • Dutch Garden

  • Dresden

Motorists are advised to use John T McMillan Avenue to access Glen Falls and not Simpson Drive.

Traffic Advisories:

The primary traffic light entering Majors Brook Drive at McAllister Drive is out of service. Traffic is not impacted as the secondary light is operartional.

Motorists are asked to drive with caution; observe all barricades, signage and direction from public safety personnel; keep headlights on; and avoid driving through flooded areas, whether marked or unmarked, due to unknown depths and hidden hazards such as sink holes and missing man hole covers. Driving through flooded areas can cause damage to homes, businesses and personal property, and can leave drivers and passengers stranded.
