Officer Injured during Arrest

A Saint John Police officer sustained minor injuries while effecting an arrest.

It is reported that:

On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at approximately 6:03 p.m., two officers were in the area of Peters Street in Saint John when they observed a suspect in an on-going investigation.

They arrested the suspect for having possession of a stolen vehicle and took control of him. The suspect began to actively resist the officers.

During the altercation, one of the officers injured his ankle. Additional officers arrived on scene and the suspect was taken into custody.

The officer was transported to hospital and later released.

The 34-year-old accused was also later transported and released from hospital with self-inflicted injuries. He was also arrested for resisting arrest and escape lawful custody. He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 1, 2022.
