Quick Work By SJPF/SJFD Saves Uptown Building

Officers working the evening/overnight shift with the SJPF are being congratulated for their quick thinking while on patrol early Thursday, February 25, 2021. Officers were in the area of City Road when they detected what smelled like smoke.

Seeing no visible flames, officers quickly canvassed the area and were able to locate fire burning in a vacant building on Sewell Street. Fire officials quickly arrived on scene and brought the flames under control.

Fire officials indicate that if the fire had burned much longer, there could have been extensive damage to the vacant and other buildings on Sewell Street.
