Residential parking permits available through HotSpot

To make residential parking permits as simple and convenient as possible to get, the Saint John Parking Commission has partnered with HotSpot to provide customers with the ability to manage and purchase their own residential permits through the HotSpot website or app directly. 

Effective May 1, residential parking enforcement will be done with a scan of the license plate. Hanging tags will no longer be required on or after May 1, 2021 in the South-Central Peninsula.

A reminder that residential parking permits are not transferable.  

Frequently Asked Questions 

Q. Can residential parking permits still be purchased at City Hall?

A. Yes, this remains an option. Permits can be purchased directly from City Hall and paid for with cash or cheque. The customer's ID will be validated, and they will be ready to park in a residential area for 2021.

Q. Is there a fee to use the HotSpot app?

A. The public does not have to pay to use the HotSpot app to get a residential parking permit. 

Q. Will user data be collected through the HotSpot app?

A. Required information will only identify which zone the person purchased the permit for, and license plate. As a company, HotSpot not only meets but exceeds PCI compliance standards. If a customer has a concern, they can come to City Hall and purchase their permit without having to use a credit card.
