Robbery and Motor Vehicle Collisions Investigation East Saint John

On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at approximately 11:08 a.m., the Saint John Police responded to a robbery in the area of Golden Grove Road. 

It is alleged that: 

A 58-year-old victim reported that she was driving on Golden Grove Road when an unknown male threw something at her vehicle. 

When she stopped, the suspect assaulted her and stole her vehicle. She sustained non-life-threatening physical injuries.  

The suspect then collided with three other vehicles on Rothesay Avenue. 

A 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene of the last collision for robbery and criminal driving related offenses. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening physical injuries.  

A 56-year-old man who was an occupant of another vehicle involved in the collision with the suspect vehicle was also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening physical injuries. 

The Forensic Identification Unit and Traffic Reconstruction were called to the scene. Rothesay Avenue was closed to traffic between McAllister Drive and Retail Drive for approximately three and a half hours. 

The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate. There is no information at this time on a scheduled court appearance. 

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has dash-cam or video surveillance of the incident at the time it occurred.
