Suspect Charged In Relation To 2016 Homicide

A 57-year-old man made a brief appearance in Saint John provincial court on Monday, July-5-2021 answering to the charge of second-degree murder in the homicide of a Saint John woman in 2016.

Mark Andrew Carty entered no plea and will remain in custody pending his next court appearance on July-23-2021.

The charge against Carty stems from the investigation into the homicide of Tammy Boratynec, which occurred on July-17-2016.

The 43-year-old woman’s body was discovered in the backyard of a home on Melrose Street in East Saint John.

The investigation by the Saint John Police Force’s Major Crime Unit is ongoing.
