Update on Sexual Assault Investigation

On Wednesday, September 29th, 2021, the Saint John Police Force received a complaint that a woman engaged in street work was allegedly assaulted, thrown into the back of a vehicle, driven to a secluded area, and sexually assaulted.

The Saint John Police Force subsequently issued a media release with a description of the alleged suspect and a public safety notice for the Waterloo Street area.

During an investigation conducted by the Major Crime Unit and Family Protection Unit, police located the alleged suspect as well as collected statements, financial records, and video surveillance. Evidence collected does not support the details of the allegation.

As a result, no criminal charges will be laid in this matter.
