P.R.O. Kids

If you find it difficult to afford the sports, recreation, arts, or culture activity that your child or teen wants to be involved with, P.R.O. Kids (Positive Recreation Opportunities for Kids) can help. P.R.O. Kids, a charitable program operated by the City of Saint John, can pay the registration fees, equipment costs, and transportation costs related to organized, registered recreation.

P.R.O. Kids helps cover the costs for sports like hockey, soccer, baseball, basketball, swimming and football. But we also work with multiple organizations who provide martial arts training, dance lessons, cheerleading, horseback riding and rock climbing, visual and creative artists, theatre arts, and music lessons.

The funds used are raised through fundraising events, donations, grants, and the kindness of the Greater Saint John Community!

Apply for support

P.R.O. Kids provides up to $500/child/year. This amount can be used toward the costs associated with a single activity or divided over less expensive options that happen in different seasons.

  • Your child must be 18 years of age and younger, and live in Saint John, Grandbay-Westfield, Rothesay or Quispamsis.
  • Each application requires at least 1 reference (preferably 2) who can verify that the applicant is in financial need. The reference(s) should be an adult who knows the parent or child, is not a friend or family member, and who is active in community activities.
  • Know your activity of choice, the registration deadlines for that program, the costs associated with it, and any other details about equipment or transportation before applying.
  • Get your application in before the deadline for the season! Financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
