Kevin Loughery Named Director of Saint John Transit

The City of Saint John is pleased to announce Kevin Loughery as the new Director of Saint John Transit, effective Monday, November 25, 2024. With an extensive background in project management, operational leadership, and transportation innovation, Mr. Loughery brings a wealth of expertise to this vital role. His strategic vision and commitment to modernizing transit services will be instrumental in enhancing Saint John Transit’s growth and impact on the community.

Over the past two years, Mr. Loughery has served as Senior Manager, Transit and Fleet, where he led transformative projects, including the procurement and implementation of electrification efforts for City Fleet and Transit. This initiative included charging infrastructure, rolling stock, and sustainable mobility options like electric buses and bicycles. Additionally, he spearheaded the development of the on-demand Flex Service, expanding transit to underserved areas, and the launch of the JustRide electronic fare payment platform, improving the customer experience across the network.

He also oversaw significant facility renovations and the relocation of Fleet Services, ensuring operational excellence and future readiness. As Director, he will continue driving forward Saint John Transit’s strategic priorities, fostering growth, and creating a more connected, sustainable city for all residents. The City extends its thanks to outgoing Director Ian MacKinnon for his dedication and leadership. Earlier this month, it was announced that Mr. MacKinnon has been appointed as General Manager for Saint John Industrial Parks, where he will continue contributing to the City’s economic growth and development.
