Renaming an Existing Street or Public Space

Naming Proposal Form:

The Naming Proposal Form is required for all requests to name or rename a City of Saint John street or public space.

Use this form to propose that the City of Saint John name or rename an existing a public or private street, or a public space.

Please complete all sections of the application and provide the required attachments.

The City will consider such proposals but is under no obligation to accept a proposed name.

Note: If you are proposing that the City name a street or space after an event or after someone who has died, the City will only consider the proposal two (2) years after the date of the event or person’s death.

Upload your documented support from the community, including but not limited to petitions and support letters. A public request to change a name requires 75% of residents, property owners, and businesses surrounding the street providing support through a petition, letter, or email.
