Indigenous Peoples Day

In partnership with Double Curve Media, the City of Saint John is hosting various events to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day. All events are free of charge and inclusive, and all are encouraged to attend. The day will begin with a sunrise ceremony and sacred fire at Fort Latour at 5:37 a.m. The Wolastoqey and Mi’kmaq Grand Council flags will be raised at the City Hall Plaza at 11:30 a.m., followed by a drumming procession to Fort Latour. At noon, Uhkmi Singers from Sitansisk First Nation and dancers will perform traditional Indigenous songs and dance.
