City to retrofit over 1,000 streetlights with LED lights

As part of the City of Saint John’s Climate Change Action Plan, close to 1,000 streetlights will be retrofitted with LED lights between February and March of 2021. This initiative will bring benefit in the form of energy savings and a reduction of overall greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).

The LED retrofit project is expected to save the City close to $58,000 in annual energy costs and 143 tons of carbon dioxide.

The project was identified in the City’s Climate Change Action Plan and will enable the City to achieve its corporate GHG emissions target by 2025.
