City of Saint John names new Commissioner of Growth and Community Services

The City of Saint John has named Amy Poffenroth, PEng, MBA to the position of Commissioner of Growth and Community Services. Ms. Poffenroth began her new role earlier this month.

“Amy is an accomplished leader with exceptional people skills,” says CAO Brent McGovern.  “She has played a lead role in advancing the growth agenda on behalf of the City through her leadership of the City’s One Stop Development Shop and efforts to enhance the City’s community standards programs.”

Ms. Poffenroth’s new role comes after a successful tenure as Acting Commissioner of the department.

“I’m excited to lead the Growth and Community Services team, fostering collaboration among dedicated professionals to propel the city’s growth agenda and enhance community well-being. Together, we aim to make a lasting impact for a vibrant and thriving community,” says Poffenroth.

With more than 25 years’ experience at the City of Saint John, in addition to her role as Acting Commissioner, Amy has served in various senior leadership roles in the organization including Director of Permitting and Development and as the City’s Chief Building Inspector. Amy will continue her current duties as the City’s Chief Building Inspector.

Ms. Poffenroth obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick, as well as a Certificate in Local Government Administration from Henson College/Dalhousie University.
