Opening of the Free Outdoor Community Rink at Ihtohli-maqahamok - The Gathering Space

The City of Saint John is thrilled to announce the opening of the free outdoor community rink at Ihtohli-maqahamok - The Gathering Space. This exciting addition to the Waterfront revitalization is now open for public use.

The rink is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Recent mild weather did not provide ideal ice-making conditions. Outdoor ice rinks require a series of very cold days to build up ice. City Staff will continue to work to keep the ice in top shape, with daily snow clearing and flooding. If ice conditions change the rink may be closed temporarily to allow for the ice surface to improve.

As the public laces up their skates and hits the ice at the new ice surface they are reminded that this rink is unattended so use it at your own risk and follow all posted rules.

It is a great space for everyone to enjoy, and users are asked to share the space respectfully. Let's keep the rink fun and safe by avoiding rough play or pushing. Please keep hockey sticks, pucks, glass containers, pets, strollers, and sleds off the ice. This is a smoke-free, vape-free, drug and alcohol-free space.

Helmets are encouraged, but they are not mandatory. All users must wear skates.

Come and enjoy the new outdoor community rink at Ihtohli-maqahamok - The Gathering Space and make the most of this wonderful addition to our city!
