PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING BY-LAW OF THE CITY OF SAINT JOHN PUBLIC HEARING

Public Notice is hereby given that the Common Council of The City of Saint John intends to consider amending The Zoning By-law of The City of Saint John (By-law Number C.P. 111) at its regular meeting to be held in the Council Chamber on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.

The amendment affects a number of sections of the Zoning By-law and includes the following:

 

  1. Modifing the definition of a «minor utility service building or structure» to include public washrooms;
  2. Eliminating the minimum building height requirment in the Park zone;
  3. Replacing existing Barrier Free Parking  provisions with new provisions;
  4. Eliminating the minimum gross floor area requirement in the Regional Commercial (CR) Zone;
  5. Increasing the fees for Development Permits to $250 and including specific requirements for site plans to be submitted with Development Permit applications;
  6. Amending the provisions for Converted Dwellings;
  7. Eliminating the minimum floor areas for dwelling units in multiple unit dwellings in certain residential zones;
  8. Allowing Crisis Care Facilities as a permitted use in additional zones and amending the provisions governing the location of Crisis Care Faciities in the Urban Centre Residential (RC) zone;
  9. Amending the maximum gross floor area requirement for garden suites.

The proposed amendment may be inspected by any interested person at the office of the Common Clerk, or in the office of Growth and Community Development Services, City Hall, 15 Market Square, Saint John, N.B. between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, inclusive, holidays excepted.

Written objections to the amendment may be sent to the undersigned at City Hall.
