Public Information Session: Broad Street (Charlotte Street to Carmarthen Street – Street Reconstruction)

During the 2025 construction season, the City of Saint John will be undertaking upgrades to the water mains, sanitary and storm sewers, and roadways along Broad Street from Charlotte Street to Carmarthen Street.

The project generally includes the replacement of water mains and sanitary sewers, the installation of new storm sewers, and existing services to each building up to the property lines will be renewed. Roadway reconstruction on Broad Street will include the installation of gravels, asphalt, concrete curb and sidewalk, landscaped medians, and trees. The project will also include active transportation and traffic calming measures, including bike lanes, road narrowing and the extension of Harbour Passage.

This project is part of the City’s on-going commitment to continually improve its infrastructure and is included in approved City of Saint John Water and Sewerage Utility Fund and General Fund Capital Programs. This project is partially funded by the Integrated Bilateral Funding Program.

The project is anticipated to begin in mid-April 2025 and is expected to be completed by mid-September 2025. Prior to construction another notice will be distributed to inform residents and business owners of the actual construction start date. Although there will be water interruptions and delays to traffic, it is our intent to keep these inconveniences to a minimum.

Representatives from the City of Saint John and the project design team from CBCL Limited will be available to answer questions related to the project. The public is invited to drop in anytime during the following periods to attend an information session for this project:
