Small Grants Funding Recipients Spring/Summer 2024

Symphony New Brunswick

Four by Four: Saint John String Quartet

This project is to plan and deliver four concerts at the SJ Free Public Library. These are family friendly, thoughtfully thematic, and professionally designed and delivered live concert experiences in an informal setting. They are upbuilding, educational, and a source of pride in what Saint John has to offer in terms of artistic excellence and public engagement through the arts.

Third Space:

Third Shift 2024

THIRD SHIFT is an exhibition of public contemporary artworks presented by Third Space, a not-for-profit artist-run centre in Saint John, New Brunswick. THIRD SHIFT will present the works of over 50 emerging and professional artists from Saint John and abroad from August 16th-18th, 2024. This grant will directly impact the accessibility of the festival.

Imperial Theatre for Fog Lit Festival:

Fog Lit Festival: FOG LITE

FOG LITE will take place over the three days in September 2024, taking advantage of the fall publishing season and literary festival circuit to draw in authors. In the spirit of the original festival, there are three goals: to bring together those with a love of reading and writing from across the Great Saint John area; to foster literacy across readers of all ages through diverse programming; and to support local voices and build a sense of community in the Saint John region. Programming will be inclusive and accessible and will celebrate a range of voices from the Atlantic Canadian region.

Connection Dance Works:

Saint John Contemporary Dance Festival 2024

The 2024 festival will feature a Main Stage performance at the AREA 506 container village, a series of site- specific works celebrating unique locations through uptown Saint John, a Cabaret style event and a festival celebration providing an opportunity for audience and festival performers to meet. Community members are invited to participate in the Community Movement Project and be a part of a public performance piece.

Saint John Horticultural Association:

Violet Festival Concert

The Violet Festival celebrates spring, local artistry, and nature by fostering community connection through engaging activities and live performances. Showcasing local artisans, it supports entrepreneurship and cultivates community pride, offers gardening opportunities, and promotes environmental appreciation and collective unity.

Symphonette by the Sea Sur Mer:

Concert Season

This relatively new organization engages professional musicians and provides an outlet for the public to experience performances of light chamber music and popular pop music, different from what has been traditionally offered in the Saint John region. The project will see a minimum of two concerts offered in the City and will feature local composers and arrangers.
