Big Spirit on Display as Public Works Supports Touch‑a‑Truck

The City of Saint John Public Works team was pleased to bring incredible energy and heart to the 2026 Touch-a-Truck event in support of First Steps.

Held annually, First Steps’ Touch-a-Truck event gives families a safe, interactive day filled with bouncy castles, games, face painting, food vendors, and of course an exciting lineup of trucks and commercial vehicles. Children can climb inside the vehicles, ask questions, and learn firsthand about the equipment that helps build and serve our community, all while supporting a fantastic cause: helping young pregnant women and their babies reach their full potential.

"The City of Saint John has been a valued partner of Touch a Truck since the very beginning. Year after year, their staff generously volunteer their time, bring their vehicles, and help create an unforgettable experience for the more than 2,500 children and families who attend. Their ongoing commitment to our community is a true example of community spirit in action, and we are incredibly grateful for their continued support," shares Mallory Curwin, Executive Director of First Steps.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to connect with families, share their expertise, and showcase the equipment that keeps our community running every day. Your enthusiasm made the experience fun, engaging, and truly memorable for everyone who attended.

Touch-a-Truck continues to be a wonderful community event, and we are proud to be part of something that sparks curiosity, inspires young minds, and brings so many smiles, all for a great cause. Well done, Saint John!
