City launches new immigration resource website

Today, the City of Saint John, in partnership with the Saint John Local Immigration Partnership (SJLIP), launched the NewToSaintJohn.ca website, a “no wrong door” gateway to the region’s immigration ecosystem.

NewToSaintJohn.ca connects newcomers and potential newcomers to Saint John’s immigration services and resources in one easy-to-find virtual location. The site’s “no wrong door approach” highlights the services, organizations, and information that will help make the move to the Saint John Region easier and be the go-to-destination for information over the first few years of settlement.

“With this website, the City and community partners are focused on providing newcomers and potential newcomers with the resources they need in a one-stop, welcoming, easy-to-navigate format,” says Kathryn Melvin, Project Manager, SJLIP. “It is relevant immigration-focused information aimed at improving the settlement experience.”

The website identifies the multitude of needs that newcomers have and provides clear information on how these needs can be met based on services and supports available in the Saint John region. From housing and transportation, language services, childcare, education, employment, healthcare, and even the weather, NewToSaintJohn.ca will help newcomers find what they need to live, work, and study in the Saint John region.

The Succeed and Stay Immigration Strategy aims to attract 12,000 newcomers to the City over the next 10 years by promoting the Saint John region as the destination of choice for newcomers and their families in New Brunswick. To read the strategy, visit: www.saintjohn.ca/growthplans.
