Multi-unit Recycling

Expanded Recycling Services Now Available for Multi-Family Residences in Saint John

Effective May 5, 2025, Saint John Common Council passed a new by-law requiring owners and property managers of multi-family dwellings (MFDs) with more than four units to register for the free recycling collection service and provide space for on-site recycling containers.

Enhanced curbside recycling collection services are now available for apartment and condominium buildings with more than four units. This improvement comes as part of New Brunswick’s recently expanded Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program, delivered by Circular Materials.

The deadline to register is May 31, 2025, and property managers and owners are strongly encouraged to complete registration as soon as possible to ensure compliance. Registration is quick and can be completed online at: New Brunswick Multi-Family Dwelling Recycling | Circular Materials

The recycling collection service and containers for on-site storage are provided at no cost. Additional information, including upcoming Information Sessions, is available on the Circular Materials website.

Expanding access to recycling in multi-family residences supports a cleaner environment, extends the lifespan of the regional landfill, and advances the goals of the City’s WasteWise Program.
