Congratulations Port City Pirates

Home Run for Saint John: Port City Pirates Secure $148,000 Jays Care "Field of Dreams" Grant

The City of Saint John congratulates the Port City Pirates Baseball Association and the Friends of St. Peter’s Baseball Field on their successful award of $148,000 from the Jays Care Foundation "Field of Dreams" program.

The funding will support Phase One of the St. Peter’s Ballfield Project, an initiative to revitalize the historic, decommissioned ballfield located in the heart of the Old North End.

The Friends of St. Peter’s and the City of Saint John are working together to restore this important community space and create new opportunities for youth, families, and neighbourhood residents.

The City also extends congratulations to all grant recipients across the country, with special recognition for fellow New Brunswick winners:

  • Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska – Vallée-des-Rivières, École Sainte-Anne
  • Salisbury – Salisbury Petitcodiac Minor Baseball Association, Petitcodiac Field

The announcement was shared during a community watch party of SportsNet’s Blue Jays Central broadcast, held Sunday, June 7, at the Market Square Atrium. A large crowd of Jays fans gathered to celebrate the news and cheer on the team.

Watch for clips from Saint John on Blue Jays Central tonight (June 8) at 7:30 p.m. AT.
