Public Notice on behalf of Saint John Transit Commission: Vehicles for Hire Annual Rate

The Saint John Transit Commission has received written submissions requesting a review of the Vehicle for Hire rates, the Transit Commission will commence the rate review process.

Section 17 of the Vehicles for Hire By-Law (the “By-Law”) provides a mechanism for the annual review of the rates set out in Schedule “B” thereof. Pursuant to the requirements of subsection 17 (2), this shall serve as notice to industry stakeholders (and the public more generally) that you have a period of thirty (30) days from the date of this notice to forward to the attention of the General Manager of the Saint John Transit Commission written submissions respecting: (1) whether Schedule “B” should remain unchanged or be amended and, (2) if the latter, identify what amendments would be in order together with a supporting rationale.

A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 19, 2022. Please contact sjtransitcustomerservice@saintjohn.ca if you wish to appear. The Saint John Transit Commission will consider the written submissions received, the recommendations of the General Manager and the oral submissions of any interested parties.

After considering the aforementioned information, the Saint John Transit Commission shall make a recommendation to Common Council respecting whether Schedule “B” should be amended and, if so, how Common Council shall subsequently consider such recommendation and determine whether any changes to Schedule “B” ought to be made.
