2026 Name the Plow Contest

Snow Much Fun: Help us name our plows!

The snowy season is in full force and the City of Saint John, in partnership with local radio station 97.3 The Wave, is inviting residents to join in the fun with the launch of the second Name the Plow contest! Four of the City’s street snowplows are waiting for names, and now it’s your turn to help choose the winners.

Beginning on March 9, 2026, residents can visit www.yoursaintjohn.ca to vote for their favourite names from the list selected by Common Council:

  • Salt 'n Pusher
  • Slushy
  • Scoop There It Is
  • West Warden
  • Captain Clearway
  • Ctrl + Salt + Delete
  • Marco Plowo
  • Clearopathra
  • Plow Mater
  • Qey (Hello in Wolastoq)

Public voting will run until March 24, 2026, and the four winning names will be announced on March 25, 2026.

Winning names will be proudly displayed on the sides of the plows with decals and featured in promotional photos and videos on social media. It’s your chance to make a mark on the city and see your chosen names rolling through the streets all winter long.

Did you know that over the winter, the City of Saint John services 1,160 lane kilometres of road—longer than the distance from Saint John to Ottawa—with snow clearing and the application of sand, salt, and brine? We also maintain 225 kilometres of sidewalk. To learn more about the City’s winter management plan, click HERE.

So grab your mittens, cast your vote, and help us give these plows names that will make Saint John smile all season long!
