Statement from the City of Saint John regarding the release of the provincial government white paper

The City of Saint John would like to provide an update following the provincial government’s release of the White Paper Working together for vibrant and sustainable communities today. We thank those in our community and region who shared their input during the public consultation process earlier this year and acknowledge the significant work that has gone into the development and release of the Paper.  

This White Paper was made available to the leadership of the City in the last few hours. Therefore, time is required to properly review the content before comment is provided. City staff have begun an analysis and after Council has been informed of the results and had a chance to deliberate, official comment will be offered.   

As part of the staff review, and in discussion with Common Council, the City will examine if the White Paper aligns with the priorities and commitments identified in Sustaining Saint John, A Three-Part Plan.
