Transit Fare Changes Effective January 1, 2024

Single ride cash fares have not increased since 2012

On January 1, 2024, a single ride cash fare on Saint John Transit will increase from $2.75 to $3.00. This represents the first cash fare increase in 11 years. Other fare categories will also increase for the first time in seven years.

Fare increases will allow the commission to address rising costs (for example, vehicles, fuel, maintenance, insurance) as the agency continues to expand service and introduce new technology and system enhancements.

Later this fall, Saint John Transit will introduce STJRides -- an account based mobile ticketing app. Riders who use the app will see savings of five (5) percent per fare purchase. 

* 20-Ride passes will be discontinued.
