Memorial Bench Program

Benches serve as an important part of a park's landscape, providing a place for rest and reflection in nature. The City of Saint John Memorial Bench Program offers a way to honour the life, memory and contributions of a family member, friend, colleague or other individuals. Since the program began in 2003, City staff have installed over fifty benches.

Those wishing to purchase a memorial bench must apply. A limited number of benches are installed each year and available on a first come, first served basis. Applications are processed by staff in the order in which they are received. (No wait list will be maintained or carried to the following year.)

How to Apply: Applications are closed for 2026.
Please read the Program Guidelines carefully before applying. We recommend you download the required Application Form to your local device first. As you complete the fields, be sure to save your progress.

Completed forms must be emailed. Please do not submit any form of payment until you hear from Community Services staff that your application has been approved.

New for 2026! In addition to various locations throughout Rockwood Park, the Memorial Bench Program now includes bench sites at Dominion Park Beach and Little River Reservoir.
