City hours and service schedules for the holidays

The City of Saint John would like to advise the public of the following hours and service schedules for the holidays:

Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve)

• City Offices: All City offices including City Hall Customer Service Centre: Open 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Saint John Transit: No service after 6:00 p.m.
• Saint John City Market: 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• City Arenas: Charles Gorman closed, Stewart Hurley and Peter Murray arenas are open from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. for free public skating.

Thursday, December 25 (Christmas)

• City Offices: All City offices including City Hall Customer Service Centre: Closed
• Garbage and Compost Collection: Collection will move forward to Saturday, December 27
• Saint John Transit: No service
• Saint John City Market: Closed
• City Arenas: Closed

Friday, December 26 (Boxing Day)

• City Offices: All City offices including City Hall Customer Service Centre: Closed
• Saint John Transit: No service
• Saint John City Market: Closed
• City Arenas: Peter Murray Arena – closed, Stewart Hurley and Charles Gorman arenas open from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. for free public Boxing Day Skate.

Wednesday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve)

• City Offices: All City offices including City Hall Customer Service Centre: Open 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Garbage and Compost Collection: Regular schedule
• Saint John Transit: Regular service
• Saint John City Market: 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• City Arenas: Charles Gorman Arena – closed.  Stewart Hurley Arena and Peter Murray Arena open from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for free public skating.
• New Year’s Eve Fireworks: From Long Wharf at 8:00 p.m. (Weather permitting). Poor weather date is January 1, 2025, same time and location.

Thursday, January 1 (New Year’s Day)

• City Offices: All City offices including City Hall Customer Service Centre: Closed
• Garbage and Compost Collection: Regular schedule
• Saint John Transit: No service
• Saint John City Market: Closed
• City Arenas: Closed

CHRISTMAS TREE DROP-OFF LOCATIONS – open Thursday, January 1 to Sunday, January 11th

  • Peter Murray Arena - Dever Rd
  • Forest Hills Ball Field - 651 Westmorland Rd
  • 330 Charlotte Street

Please note that the Crescent Valley location will NOT be available this year.
