Plow winners 2026

City unveils community‑selected snowplow names

The votes are in and the City of Saint John, together with local radio partner 97.3 The Wave, is excited to reveal the four winning names in the second Name the Plow contest.

After two weeks of enthusiastic public voting at www.yoursaintjohn.ca, residents helped narrow down ten creative name options selected by Common Council. More than just a playful winter tradition, the contest brings the community together to celebrate the hardworking plows that keep the city moving all season long.

The four winning names are:

  • Scoop There It Is
  • Ctrl + Salt + Delete
  • Clearopathra
  • Marco Plowo

These names will soon be proudly displayed on the sides of four City street snowplows with custom decals. The newly named plows will also be featured in upcoming promotional photos and videos on the City’s social media channels.

Each winter, the City of Saint John services 1,160 lane kilometres of road—a distance longer than the drive from Saint John to Ottawa—as well as 225 kilometres of sidewalk. Snow clearing, sanding, salting, and brine application are essential parts of ensuring reliable transportation throughout the season.
