Retail Drive Intersection Realignment Project to resume construction on Monday, April 7

The City of Saint John, in collaboration with Galbraith Construction Ltd., is set to resume construction on the Retail Drive Intersection Realignment Project, Monday, April 7, 2025. The project includes:

  • Installation of water, sanitary, and storm sewer infrastructure on Rothesay Avenue.
  • Reconstruction of a portion of Ashburn Lake Road.
  • Realignment of Retail Drive, including new water, sanitary, and storm sewer infrastructure.
  • Installation of new traffic signals at the Rothesay Avenue and Retail Drive intersection.

Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of April 7, 2025, with an anticipated completion by the end of October 2025, weather permitting.

Throughout the project, traffic diversions and road closures will be necessary during various stages of construction. Sections of Rothesay Avenue and Retail Drive will have traffic diversions during various stages of construction.

Further detailed notice will be provided in advance of traffic changes.

Residents and businesses will have access to Rothesay Avenue, Retail Drive, Oakland Street, and Rockwood Avenue, though disruptions are expected as work progresses.

The City acknowledges the inconvenience this work may cause but emphasizes the necessity of these improvements to realign the Rothesay Avenue and Retail Drive intersection. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
