Saint John’s Waterfront Rink Opens December 17th at Ihtoli maqahamok – The Gathering Space

The City of Saint John is delighted to announce that the free outdoor community rink at Ihtoli maqahamok – The Gathering Space officially opens for the season on Wednesday, December 17.

Hours of Operation:  Open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

🌨️ Ice Conditions:  Outdoor rinks depend on several days of very cold weather to build a strong surface, so mild temperatures can make ice maintenance more challenging. City staff will continue daily snow clearing and flooding to keep the rink in the best possible condition. Please note: if weather affects the ice, the rink may close temporarily to allow the surface to recover.

❄️ Respect the Space:  Share the ice courteously, follow posted rules, and enjoy this smoke‑free, vape‑free, drug‑free, and alcohol‑free environment. Helmets are encouraged, and skates are required.

⛸️ Skate Lending Library:  Need skates? Borrow a pair for free at the Saint John Public Library – Central Branch! Located on the second floor of Market Square, the library’s recreational equipment lending program makes it easy to get a pair. Stop by in person or call 506‑643‑7236 to check sizes and availability.

A Place for Everyone: Come lace up and enjoy this vibrant community space. Together, let’s keep the rink safe, welcoming, and fun for all. 💙
