Temporary limited access to City Hall Plaza due to construction work

The City is advising residents and visitors of construction work taking place in front of City Hall later this month.

On Friday, May 29, 2026, crews will be installing seven bollards in the City Hall plaza area. Concrete work will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue throughout the day.

During this time, access to parts of the plaza will be limited. The following areas will be affected:

  • Entrance to the plaza from Chipman Hill
  • Corner of Market Square and Chipman Hill
  • Entrance from St. Patrick Street

Accessible access via Chipman Hill will be temporarily unavailable during construction. Alternate accessible entry to City Hall will be maintained through the Shoppes of City Hall.

The main entrance to City Hall will remain open, but the public may experience some detours when moving through the plaza. Signage will be in place to help guide pedestrians safely.

Crews will return at a later date to complete the bollard installation. Details on that work will be shared once confirmed.

The City appreciates the public’s patience while this work is completed.
