Sunshine Program

The City of Saint John is pleased to offer a FREE recreation program for children this summer. Registration is required. A spin off of our annual Playground Program, this year’s Sunshine Program is an 8-week program hosted at four municipal parks.

From June 28 – August 20, 2021, the Sunshine Program will be offered at the following locations across Saint John.

•    Dominion Park | Rain Location: Barnhill Memorial School
•    Rockwood Park (Fisher Lakes) | Rain Location: Princess Elizabeth School
•    Rainbow Park | Rain Location: Princess Elizabeth School
•    Lakewood Heights School

The Sunshine Program is for Saint John children ages 6 to 12. Daily activities include swimming, water activities, sports, active games, arts and crafts. While outdoor recreation is the focus, programming will be offered at the indoor sites on wet/rainy days.

Outdoor sites are equipped with a tent to provide protection from sun exposure. Each site has portable toilets.

Morning program runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and afternoon program runs from
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Note: Early pick up on Thursdays at 3:00 p.m. for weekly staff meeting.)

It is important to note that this program is not a full-time, daycare service. This program requires that a parent or guardian be home and available throughout the day. There is no staff supervision during the lunch hour and children are required to go home.

Children must be registered at one site with the intention to attend daily during the selected weeks. Parents are asked to read the Release Agreement prior to registering.
