Located next to the ferry landing off of Kennebecasis Drive, this park features a gated green space overlooking the Kennebecasis River.
The park honours the memory of Pte David Greenslade, 20, of Saint John, New Brunswick, who died with five other soldiers in 2007, while serving in Afghanistan. The park was made possible by a partnership among David’s family, community members, the City of Saint John, and the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment.
Harbour Passage is a series of interconnected walking and biking trails, lookouts, and heritage sites that connect the north and west sides of the City to uptown. The cranberry trails provide views of Saint John Harbour and its active port. Interpretive structures and panels along the way bring Saint John’s vibrant shipbuilding and waterfront history to life. Harbour Passage is ideal for walkers, runners, and bikers, and wheelchair users of all ages.
The Irving Nature Park is a 600 acre (243 hectare) wooded park located on the City's west side. It offers beautiful views of the Fundy coastline and is a popular destination among locals and visitors to enjoy the outdoors, with groomed trails and a gravel road for walking, hiking, and biking. It features accessible washrooms, lookouts, barbecues, and—just outside the main entrance—a children’s forest, playground, and life-size mazes.
The park was developed and is maintained by J.D. Irving Ltd.
Wolastoq means “the beautiful river” in the language of the Maliseet people who once lived on our shores. Built in 2004 by J.D. Irving, Limited, the park overlooks the Reversing Falls Rapids, and features a collection of statues of historical Saint John figures. Stroll Wolastoq’s shoreline – and you will see how these lands provided the Maliseet people with an abundance of food, materials and medicines, while acting as an important transportation route for hunting and trade.

The Jervis Bay-Ross Memorial Park is located on Loch Lomond and Jean streets on the City's east side. It features lawns, gardens, and several walkways. It also has a number of veterans’ memorials and artifacts relating to the sinking of the Jervis Bay in the North Atlantic during World War II—with many lives lost to the heroic effort of saving the accompanying convoy of ships.
A classic, historic, and inviting urban park, King's Square is located in uptown Saint John at the head of King Street and bounded by Sydney, Charlotte, King's Square North, and King's Square South Streets. A salute to the Loyalist heritage of the city's founders, its pathways were designed in the shape of the British Union flag. The square is home to several monuments and plaques paying homage to individuals who helped shape the City’s heritage. Many of the tall trees that stand in the Square today were planted for the 1883 Centennial Celebrations of the landing of the Loyalists in Saint John.
In 1909, the City Coronet Band donated the unique two-storey bandstand, located in the Square's centre, as a tribute to King Edward VII.
King Square West is a cozy little green space located on Duke Street on the City’s west side. It serves as an outdoor gathering space for residents.
Larche Memorial Park is located in the City’s west side. The park features beautiful green space and walking paths lined with red maple trees, along with a full size basketball court, a playground structure, several benches, and a custom-designed granite monument.
Formerly called the Quinton Heights Park, the park was renamed in memory of Constable Douglas James Larche of Saint John. Constable Larche was one of three Codiac RCMP officers who lost his life in the line of duty on June 4, 2014. He grew up in Saint John.
Little River Reservoir, referred to locally as “The Res,” is located in the city’s east side off of Loch Lomond Road. The district park is home to a freshwater beach surrounded by a 1.6 km walking and biking trail, and it features a playground structure and an off-leash dog park.

The Market Place Park is located on the City’s west side, next to the Carleton Community Centre. The park is a hub of activity for all ages and abilities. It features several playground structures, including one for toddlers, basketball nets, a skateboard park, outdoor resistance exercise equipment, a splash pad, and a ball diamond. There is also an active community garden.
Mispec Park Beach is located in East Saint John on Red Head Road. A popular destination in summer, its long sandy beach sits directly on the Bay of Fundy coastline.
Maintained by the Saint John Horticultural Association, the public garden is a beautifully manicured public area to enjoy a picnic or find some tranquility in the middle of the City. It is a popular location for weddings and special occasion photography.

Just a few blocks south of its counterpart, King’s Square, Queen Square also features footpaths shaped in an X pattern and features mature trees for shade. Queen Square was once one of the most fashionable districts in the City. The homes were built by wealthy citizens following the Great Fire of 1877. A monument of Samuel de Champlain was erected to mark the 300th anniversary of his naming the St. John River.
On Sundays between May and October, Queen Square is home to a popular open-air farmers’ market.
As its name states, Queen Square West is located on the City’s west side, in the residential neighbourhood known as Carleton. With views of the Bay of Fundy, the square includes a large green space and walking paths.
Rainbow Park is a district park in the City’s south end. A popular spot for local residents, the park features a fully-accessible playground structure, a basketball court, washroom facilities, and a memorial garden for quiet reflection. It is also home to an active community garden.
Riverview Memorial Park is located on Douglas Avenue overlooking the Saint John River. The park’s construction began in the early 1900s by the Douglas Avenue Park Commission—it took many years to remove rock, level the ground, and create the grassy park we enjoy today. A monument was also installed to honour veterans who served in the Boer War, where four Saint John men lost their lives.
Robertson Square is a small park located on Bridge Street at the end of Main Street in the neighbourhood local residents refer to as the Old North End. The square overlooks the beautiful Saint John River at Marble Cove, next to the Saint John Power Boat Club.
A nature park in the heart of Saint John, and a recreational jewel in the City’s crown. Located in the eastern area of the North End, Rockwood Park is one of Canada’s largest urban parks, at 890 hectares of forested hills, caves, and freshwater lakes. It was designed by Calvert Vaux, one of the designers of New York City's Central Park.
Rockwood Park is a City hub for outdoor activities and entertainment year round. Over 55 trails and footpaths will guide you through unspoiled wilds. The park features a golf course, camping sites, stables, wellness spa, and freshwater lakes for fishing, swimming, boating, and skating. A Stonehammer Geopark site, Rockwood’s billion years of history can be seen in unique rock formations, caves, and waterfalls. The park’s Interpretation Centre is the hub of information for all events taking place in the Park, trail maps, interpretive displays, and helpful staff. Make a day of it!
NOTE: While visitors may enjoy the extensive duck population that calls Rockwood Park home, it’s important that you do NOT feed them. Feeding the ducks leads to their becoming dependent on humans; delayed migration; malnutrition; overcrowding; and lake pollution due to increased levels of duck feces.
Seaside Park is located on the City’s west side and overlooks the beautiful Bay of Fundy. The park is a popular local gathering spot with activities such as live music and outdoor movies. It’s also home to the Seaside Lawn Bowling Club.
Shamrock Park is a multi-purpose outdoor sport and recreation venue located in the City’s north end. The park is home to the regulation-size Emera Field, with artificial multipurpose turf, uprights, lighting and seating for 400 spectators, along with four large team dressing rooms, washrooms, and free parking. But that’s just the beginning!

Saint John’s portion of the Great Trail of Canada extends from the towns of Grand Bay-Westfield to Rothesay. It includes a mix of dedicated bike lanes, shared lanes, as well as off-road trails.
Tucker Park is located in the City’s north end. Named after Lt.-Col. Joseph Tucker, who donated the land to the citizens of Saint John upon his death in 1914, the park is a treasured green space with a beach that features unspoiled views of the Kennebecasis River.
Victoria Square is located in the heart of the Old North End. Its gazebo, mature trees, paved walkways and benches make it the perfect spot for peaceful leisure. The square is a local gathering place for community events in the summer and a tree lighting at Christmas.
Saint John has four off-leash dog parks across the City. Dog owners are reminded to respect the rules of the parks by keeping their dogs leashed unless they are within the designated off-leash area. All owners must pick up after their dogs, and properly dispose of their refuse. For your convenience, City dog parks offer dog bag dispensers and garbage cans and pole baskets.

City By-law dictates that unless you are in a designated off-leash area, your dog must remain on a leash at all times. This By-law is enforced by fines, and offences are recorded.

A reliable form of transportation. A fun form of exercise. A great way to explore and spend time outside. These are all great reasons to choose to get on your bike, and Saint John invests in the infrastructure to make it happen for residents. Saint John’s growing bikeway network includes 25 kms of dedicated or shared bicycle lanes in addition to an extensive trail system that includes our famous Harbour Passage and Rockwood Park.
The Trans Canada Trail
Saint John’s portion of the Trans Canada Trail extends from the towns of Grand Bay-Westfield to Rothesay. It includes a mix of dedicated bike lanes, shared lanes, as well as off-road trails.
Campus Harbour Connection
The Campus Harbour Connection provides cyclists in Saint John with a route linking the UNB Saint John campus and Saint John Regional Hospital area with uptown Saint John and points in between. It’s a 4.5 km long arterial of dedicated bike lanes and shared use and connects to Harbour Passage. It’s the first comprehensive bike route in the city.
Rockwood Park
In addition to 60 km of trails, Rockwood Park is home to a Mountain Bike Skills Park with a variety of obstacles and features designed to increase the skills and confidence of beginner mountain bikers. The skills park has been built to meet IMBA standards and provide a challenging and rewarding experience for mountain bikers of all ages and abilities.
