To recognize and celebrate an inclusive Saint John, the City may fly flags on one of the Community Flag Poles at City Hall on a temporary basis to mark special and ceremonial occasions:
- Flags of charitable or non-profit organizations: to celebrate a special occasion or achievement in Saint John.
- Flags of nations: in recognition of Saint John's ethnic and cultural diversity, The City will fly the flag of a nation on its national day.
These flag raisings enhance awareness of causes, special occasions, and activities. Approval is at the City's sole discretion and may be rejected without due reason.
