Applications now open for 2025 Ethnocultural Grant Program

The City of Saint John is pleased to announce that the 2025 Ethnocultural Grant Program is now open. The Ethnocultural Grant Program is part of the City’s effort to become the most welcoming community in Canada. The program offers financial support to ethnocultural community groups in Saint John, assisting with the establishment and development of organizations based on shared cultural or ancestral ties. 

Applications are open until August 31, 2025, with two award cycles. Awards will be presented for applications received by April and applications received by August.

Grant Categories: 

Ethnocultural Establishment Grant: Up to $1000 

Ideal for newly established groups looking to become formalized and incorporated. The funds can cover: 

  • Name search, incorporation fees, and establishing a bank account 
  • Room rentals, office supplies, and initial marketing 
  • Other start-up costs to establish a community group. 

Ethnocultural Awareness Grant: Up to $2500 

For established not-for-profit groups seeking to increase their visibility or promote their association. The funds can cover: 

  • Website creation and hosting 
  • Branding, logo design, and promotional materials 
  • Event support and advertising to attract new members and raise awareness. 

To apply for an ethnocultural grant, complete the online application form on the City’s website. Applications are reviewed on a first come, first served basis and are assessed by the Ethnocultural Grant Jury at the end of each cycle. Submit required documents, including proof of incorporation (if applicable), a group budget, and any relevant Outcome Reports (for previously funded groups). 

Grants are one-time awards; funds are granted upon approval, based on your application details.
