Canada Day celebrations set to return to the City

After a two-year absence, Canada Day celebrations are returning to Saint John. The City is pleased to announce an exciting lineup of free, family friendly activities happening on July 1, and residents and visitors are invited to enjoy all the festivities.

This year, the City is partnering with AREA 506 for the first ever Canada Day Waterfront Festival, which will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the new container village on Water Street. Festival activities include face painting, circus performers, arts and crafts, and much more.

A free Canada Day family swim will be open to the public at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (limited to the first 400 people) and the City Market will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

To top off the celebrations, a fantastic fireworks display will be set off from Long Wharf beginning at 10:00 p.m., weather permitting.
