Foster Thurston Speed Reduction

City advising motorists of speed limit reduction and further traffic calming on Foster Thurston Drive

The City of Saint John is advising motorists of a speed limit reduction to a section of Foster Thurston Drive. The speed limit for a section of road on either side of the Foster Thurston Drive and Sandy Point Road intersection has been reduced to 40 KM/H. This new speed limit zone will include a portion of Foster Thurston extending 150 metres north and south of the Sandy Point Road intersection.  The speed limit will officially be reduced with the installation of speed limit signage.

New traffic calming measures including lane narrowing with traffic paint and bollards will complement the existing electronic driver speed feedback signs and rumble strips to encourage motorists to follow the lower 40 KM/H speed limit.

Traffic calming and safety will be further enhanced with the planned installation of a modern roundabout at the intersection of Foster Thurston Drive and Sandy Point Road in 2025.
