City of Saint John Announces 2026 Ethnocultural Small Grant Program Applications Now Open

The City of Saint John is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Ethnocultural Small Grant Program. As part of the City’s commitment to becoming one of the most welcoming communities in Canada, this program provides meaningful support to ethnocultural community groups working to build connection, celebrate culture, and strengthen belonging across the city.

The Ethnocultural Small Grant Program offers funding to help groups establish themselves, grow their capacity, and increase awareness of their cultural contributions within the broader community.

The application deadline is August 31, 2026, and submissions will be reviewed in two cycles: Cycle 1 runs from January to April and is reviewed in May, while Cycle 2 runs from May to August and is reviewed in September.

Grant Options

  • Ethnocultural Establishment Grant – Up to $1,000 (or In-Kind Support) For new or emerging ethnocultural groups seeking to become formally established as a not‑for‑profit organization.
  • Ethnocultural Awareness Grant – Up to $2,500 For incorporated not‑for‑profit ethnocultural organizations looking to increase visibility and connect with new members and the broader community.

Applications can be submitted online through the City of Saint John website, where the full program policy and guidelines are also available HERE.

Printed applications can be submitted at the ONE STOP Customer Service Desk at City Hall.

Groups that have previously received an Ethnocultural Grant must submit their Outcome Report by January 31 before applying again.

Build Community. Celebrate Culture. Create Belonging. The City recognizes the vital role ethnocultural organizations play in fostering inclusion, cultural pride, and community connection.
