City of Saint John celebrates Clean Air Day with free transit

The City of Saint John is celebrating Clean Air Day on Wednesday, June 7 by offering free transit to riders to promote environmentally-friendly modes of transportation and raise awareness of this nation-wide movement.

Celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of June, Clean Air Day encourages Canadians to take action to protect the air they breathe. Saint John is one of 50 cities across Canada participating in the day. NB Lung, a non-profit organization that advocates for cleaner air and improved lung health, is leading the way on Clean Air Day in New Brunswick.

The City of Saint John, NB Lung and Saint John Energy invite the public to visit King’s Square from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on June 7 to hear remarks from officials, learn how Canada’s oldest incorporated city is going green, and how they can help improve air quality and protect public health.

One of the City’s two electric buses will be parked in King’s Square and open to community members to take an up-close and personal look at the future of Saint John Transit.
