Opening of Waterfront

Community invited to the official opening of Ihtoli-maqahamok - The Gathering Space

The City of Saint John is thrilled to invite the community to join us in celebrating a significant milestone in our waterfront development – the official opening of Ihtoli-maqahamok - The Gathering Space on Monday, July 22.

Celebrations will take place from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the main stage and will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and official remarks from Mayor Reardon and other representatives.

We are excited to have local musician Mike Biggar, known for his soulful and potent roots and blues music, help us mark this special occasion with a live performance. Join us at the stage, enjoy a walk through the space or take in the festivities while enjoying your lunch at the beautiful indoor and outdoor patios.

About the space

Ihtoli-maqahamok’s design elements are deeply rooted in three foundations of Saint John: the people, the water, and the rocks. This beautiful new public area is intended to be a destination and meeting place for both locals and visitors, reflecting the spirit of our small city with a big heart.

The newly designed space includes:

• A community skating rink

• Indoor and outdoor patios

• An expanded stage for concerts, film screenings, and other special events

• Space for craft and food vendors

• Easy access for the public to enjoy the waterfront

We welcome everyone to come celebrate this exciting new chapter of our city’s waterfront. We can’t wait to see you there!
