Hydrant Flushing

Fire hydrant flushing beginning soon in the City's South Central Peninsula

The City of Saint John is starting its annual fire hydrant flushing program beginning on July 17 in the South Central Peninsula.

Over the next few weeks flushing will be performed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. This may affect water customers in areas of the South Central Peninsula, Haymarket Square, Douglas Avenue and neighbourhoods North and South of the Saint John Throughway.

Customers may experience cloudy water when running taps during the time the pipes on their street are being flushed however the water is safe to consume. Though customers may encounter a drop in water pressure, at no time should they be without water.

As the hydrant flushing program continues throughout the summer, the City will update residents on locations and schedule.
