Fire hydrant flushing begins in the City's North End

The City of Saint John is proceeding with a program of fire hydrant flushing to clean the water distribution pipes in the City's North End. Over the next few weeks flushing will be performed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. This may affect water customers in areas or subdivisions on or near Douglas Avenue, Chesley Drive, and all of those neighbourhoods north of the Saint John Throughway within the boundaries of Bridge Street, Belleview Avenue, Rope Walk Road, Samuel Davis Drive and Rockwood Park.

Customers may experience turbidity (dirty or cloudy) water for up to 20 minutes if they use water during the time that the line on their street is being flushed. Though customers may encounter a drop in water pressure, at no time should they be without water. The water is safe to consume.

The City will notify the public when the fire hydrant flushing program begins in other areas.
