Fire hydrant flushing begins in East Saint John

The City of Saint John is proceeding with the annual fire hydrant flushing program to clean the water distribution pipes in various areas of the City. Over the next few weeks, the focus for the program will be in East Saint John. Hydrants will be flushed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. This may affect Saint John Water customers in areas or subdivisions on or near Lakewood Heights, Ganong Road, Bon Accord, Champlain Heights, Hickey Road, Heather Way, McAllister Industrial Park, Highmeadow Park, Forest Hills, Glen Falls, Drury Cove and Rothesay Road.

Customers may experience turbidity (dirty or cloudy) water for up to 20 minutes if they use water during the time that the line on their street is being flushed. If customers notice a drop in water pressure, at no time should they be without water. The water is safe to consume.

The City will notify the public when the fire hydrant flushing program begins in other areas.
