Join the City in Celebrating Canadian Multiculturalism Day

The celebration begins at 2:00 p.m. with a Multicultural Parade from Area506, down Water Street to Market Square, featuring community groups, traditional dress, music, and dance.

Once at the waterfront, visitors can enjoy a full afternoon of activities:

  • International Buffet opens in the Market Square Atrium - 3:00 p.m.
  • Multicultural Community Activities, Cultural Performances and Family Soccer Fun Zone — 3:00 – 5:30 p.m.

All activities are free and open to the public.

This event is funded by the Government of Canada and the City of Saint John, in partnership with the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick, PRUDE Inc., the Saint John Newcomers Centre (SJNC), and the Cultural Association of Francophone Immigrants (CaFi).

Celebrate Canada

Canadian Multiculturalism Day is part of Celebrate Canada, a national series of events recognizing the diversity, history, and shared values that shape our country. The City of Saint John is proud to honour the cultures and communities that contribute to the vibrancy of our region.

Saint John residents are also invited to take part in the City’s National Indigenous Peoples Day and Canada Day events as part of the broader Celebrate Canada period, which runs from June 21 to July 1 each year.

National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21) honours the cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, offering opportunities for learning, reflection, and celebration.

The celebration period culminates on Canada Day (July 1), marking the anniversary of Confederation with community gatherings, concerts and fireworks.

Celebrate Canada is a time for communities to come together, reflect on shared values, and celebrate the diverse cultural heritages that contribute to Canada’s identity. It fosters inclusivity, understanding, and national pride and the City of Saint John is proud to welcome residents and visitors to join in these celebrations.
