By-Law Number MV-10.1 A By-Law respecting the Traffic on Streets in The City of Saint John and amendments thereto

Public Notice is hereby given that the Common Council of The City of Saint John intends to consider giving third reading to the bylaw entitled, “By-Law Number MV-10.1 A By-Law respecting the Traffic on Streets in The City of Saint John and amendments thereto” at its meeting of June 13, 2022.

The bylaw amendment proposes three sets of improvements to the safety or access of traffic flow on Saint John streets:

  • The first set of improvements, in connection with the City’s Safer School Zones Program, would create and adjust limits to various School Zones as well as reduce speed limits in several School Zones so that all in the City would consistently become 30 KM/H.
  • The second set of improvements would initiate a speed limit reduction and a No Stopping Zone on University Avenue.
  • The third set of improvements would reduce the number of months during the year that residents on select streets need to comply with Alternate Side Parking regulations.

In accordance with the Local Governance Act, the bylaw will be read in summary only, if no member of Council objects.
